Travel Arrangements

Explorers should meet, and be collected from, Glasgow Central Station in top half uniform with luggage, passport, EHI card, named medication and a packed lunch.

  • Departure - Friday 7th February 2020 at 0600 prompt
  • Pick up - Monday 10th February 2020 at 1915


One bag weighing up to 10kg with maximum dimensions of 55cm x 40cm x 20cm, plus 1 small bag, such as a school bag, of up to 35cm x 20cm x 20cm. Liquids must be in a container of no more than 100ml and should be carried in a single, transparent, re-sealable plastic bag of up to 20cm x 20cm with a total capacity of up to one litre.

Kit List

  • Explorer shirt and unit neckie only for travelling
  • Passport and EHI card
  • 3 changes of warm clothing
  • Hat, scarf and gloves
  • Toiletries and towel
  • Nightwear and underwear
  • Waterproofs and fleece
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Day bag (2nd item of luggage)
  • Medication (to Douglas in named bag on arrival)

Spending Money

Limited to £20 and 50. Everything is paid for, so this is to cover sweets, juice etc.

Electronic Items

Electronic items are brought at your own risk. You will be having way too much fun to be Snap chatting and Tick Tocking in any case, however, if you choose to bring your phone, please be conscious of data roaming charges with your network.

In Touch

If you need to make contact with us whilst away, it is essential that this is done through the Scouts' approved In Touch system. Please do not make direct contact with young people in an emergency situation. Our In Touch contact is:

We will try and update the following pages as much as possible when we are away, and any alterations to our arrival time back in Glasgow will be communicated this way as well.

Code of Expectations

Please remind your Explorer of these expectations, which they agreed to abide by when registering for the trip. Breaches may result in penalties and being sent home at your own expense. Whilst representing Scouting, Explorers will:

  • . . . display respect and courtesy at all times to other participants and the public
  • . . . behave appropriately and not cause offence to others
  • . . . recognise meeting times and rules. If late, show courtesy and inform leaders
  • . . . only sleep in allocated accommodation. No mixed sleeping
  • . . . wear appropriate uniform as necessary and directed (usually shirt and neckie)
  • . . . not purchase or consume cigarettes, alcohol or drugs. This is strictly forbidden
